It does tend to result in better and cheaper pizza, but oftentimes pizza is the answer to the question “I want to spend zero time preparing food today, what should I get?” And homemade pizza does not take care of the same problem :(

        • roll out ready-made dough
        • add tomato juice, fungi & olives from the can,
        • some veggies / slices / tuna,
        • cheese, salt & pepper, olive oil

=> cheap + low effort Pizza that is also 10x times healthier than the store-bought version.

Lately I just use tortillas for the base. Better toppings to base ratio. Near zero effort. Mine looks more like: tomato paste, shredded cheese, garlic, pre-sliced chorizo, salami or pepperoni. Optionally portobello mushrooms. I use a “pizza flavouring” mix, which is just oregano, basil and marjoram, or if I’m out of that, I probably have basil and might have oregano.

In this recipe, the only thing I need to slice is the garlic, which I get from my own garden when possible, otherwise I try to find Estonian garlic since the Chinese stuff tends to taste weaker (not always though). Even the mushrooms can be bought pre-sliced. I don’t always add them because I love them, but not every else does and honestly if I’m trying to get by on the cheap, that’s 2 or 3 euros I can do without. Ananas is also strictly optional and I never add it myself, mostly because I forget it exists in cans and cba to buy a whole one and dice it lol

But my original comment of “I want to spend zero time preparing food today, what should I get?” mostly referred to the sort of day where I don’t even want to go to the store or turn on the oven. I don’t get them a lot anymore, which is why I only get pizza from a pizzeria like 2-3 times a year these days.

Yup. And a mama was separated from her baby for that cheese. The baby, if male, was killed at a few hours old.

Not always the case. Lots of male steers go on for regular beef production. Circa 2 years, still short compared to a real lifespan.

With selective breeding its possible to achieve cheese, sauce and even hotdog stuffed crusts. The conditions are barbaric though.

Wording? “Don’t just leave the crust” implies that not only should you leave the crust, but leave other parts of the pizzanimal too.

And I’m sure that’s the opposite of what they meant.

Last pane should say something like:

Waste nothing. Use every part of the Pizzanimal. Including the crust.

I mean otherwise what, you killed a living creature to eat half of it? You killed it for sport? That’s just extra wasteful of a life.

It’s the phrasing of honouring or respecting the deceased that is the problem. If someone decided to kill and eat me and some weird afterlife shenanigan would allow me to be aware of it, I sure as hell wouldn’t find it honouring that they made a cowboy hat of my skin and guitar frets of my bones. Though it would be very metal.

Slaying an animal to utilise every piece of it’s corpse would be a more correct and honest take.

Well you could take only what you need, and then give what remains of the creature a proper burial and some brief rites.

If your population was being hunted for food, would you rather have the hunters eat all of their kill, or only part of it? Keep in mind that in both scenarios, their energy needs are the same.

Yeah it’s also good for the surviving animals. But it’s of no benefit to the dead one. It’s dead.

Also, the ancient Egyptians believed one needed all their organs intact to get to the good afterlife. That’s why they preserved those mummies so well. If I were an Egyptian buffalo and someone ate My heart before I could weigh it against a feather, I’d be pissed.

Yeah, I agree, sustainability is important and we shouldn’t waste. But I don’t think not wasting shows respect to the dead animal.

I think at that point it has nothing to do with the dead animal. It has been transformed from a living being to a resource we can chose to be wasteful or not with. But there are some serious spiritual hoops to jump through if we want to see it as a honorary action towards our victim.

Whatever small communities still existing that rely heavily on hunting for sustenance and survival practice this concept.

If an animal must be killed, then all parts will be used in some fashion.
