Just an update, I learnt that GrapheneOS developers are ‘aggressive’ towards other FLOSS projects (following comments on other thread, but you can searx grepheneos+controversy and see for yourselves).
So now, I might just prefer an FP6.

I would prefer GrapheneOS (If I can live with the irony of getting a Pixel phone just to deGoogle it…). Sandboxing there is way better. But you lose the Repairability… Gotta check and compare the new EU metrics too.

Me too. But the vast majority of users need guardrails, and have a different threat model. Even those that also care about privacy, if they just want a solution that comes by default, this adtech ‘fake’ or ‘superficial’ solution does provide something. And anything is more than nothing.
If your key is passwordless and sits on unencrypted storage… It may be a bad practice itself.

I just wanted to clarify the confusion that was in my head for a moment after going after the truth and fact checking. If I buy a pizza with Bitcoin and Lightning Network (which is the only one in use at most legal places), it’s not like I’m using 1600 kWh… The original message is misleading in that regard… Practical and concrete reality are different. But theoretical, if that pizza wanted a normal transaction it would use such amount of energy and take days (that’s why they wouldn’t use that)… So… There’s that.
Anyway, the dichotomy ‘AI or Crypto’ is false. I am not taking sides. But you do you, enjoy.
