Same story here. I cancelled Spotify after the whole Trump thing and switched to Qobuz; the whole thing was pretty seamless. I’ve got to say, the increased quality is actually noticeable and, as you said, the curated selections actually seem to be, well, curated. Also, if you’ve got a load of playlists on Spotify you want to keep, Qobuz actually provides subscribers with free access to a migartion service that did a superb job.

I can also explain Microsoft’s straglehold on enterprise/government/institutional IT in two words: Group Policy. That’s the best bit about WSL (at least, version 2) is that it is a VM running a full version of Linux using Microsoft Hypervisor. There’s a bunch of drivers included that allow Windows and Linux to share filesystems and if you run Wayland/X apps in Linux they run on the Windows desktop.

You can use NextCloud as the front end for an SMB share, which is what I do. I can access all my file shares using a protocol designed for intermittent Internet connections, I can sync any folder I want for offline use and, because NextCloud support file rehydration, I can even sync folders bigger than my local disk and it will stream in the files as I use them.

Yeah, if you’re used to Microsoft servers and have a Microsoft network it integrates really nicely and is great to manage. Plus, it’s free.
