It’s Microsoft’s current CEO. All he is interested in is subscription revenue. Xbox hardware is next to go.
Breaking up Microsoft would be the best thing they could do right now. But it won’t happen.

E/os is just android.

I do see that Ubuntu touch is an option though.
It’s shameful that most phones run one of two operating systems. There’s not enough competition. I’m still pissed about WebOS and Windows Phone being abandoned. I am hopeful though that web-based apps might make it possible for another OS to enter the market successfully at some point.
Is it really de-googled if it still runs Android?
Doesn’t this thing just run android and Google App Store? What a waste of decent hardware.
Holding security updates hostage is a sicko business strategy. I hope the EU sues them for it.
The ads aren’t targeted properly for one thing. I see ads for stuff that would never apply to me. Such a waste of money.
Many of the videos already have a sponsor, so they are double-dipping.
Also I’m not going to sit through 60 seconds of ads for a five minute video. Get real.
And don’t lie to me about “Watch this long ad break and we won’t show you more ads during this program.”
I think Prime has the right idea of front loading the ads at the beginning of the program instead of interrupting thinks every few minutes.
I’d pay for ad-free YouTube if it didn’t cost as much as HBO. Charge $3 to $5 a month and I’d consider it. Otherwise I’ll just mute the TV, or skip the programming altogether.
There was nothing wrong with WebOS. HP just didn’t have the cojones to stand behind it.
Just means I will find something else to watch. I’d pay for ad-free YouTube if it didn’t cost as much as HBO.
Still less than cable/broadcast which runs fifteen to twenty minutes of ads per hour. Given time, I’m sure streaming will catch up.
Maybe he can write some more Google products that he can then turn around and cancel.
Interesting chart. Note that this is eyeballs, not profits or subscriber numbers. YouTube is free. Most all of the other services are paid, even when subscribing with ads.
Also there’s no WBD channel, so this is lumping all channels by conglomerate ownership. It would be interesting to see this by channel. Hulu viewership is being lumped in with Disney, I assume. Tubi and Pluto bolstering Fox? and Paramount numbers.
“Mom” isn’t doing this unless she’s uber rich. Someone is bankrolling her to try to set precedent.
Someone please explain this to microwave oven manufacturers.
Idiots. Buying a perfectly good service just to shut it down. I wonder if they even bothered looking for a buyer.
Also that new logo with the flag sucks.
Good way for Apple to say “Don’t come crying to us for a refund.”
How else am I supposed to waste color toner so I can overbill my clients?
When are stockholders going to realize that the current Microsoft CEO is ruining Windows?
Dude could have just been successful letting Facebook be a tool to keep in touch with friends and family. Instead he has all these weird, unnecessary ideas about how to manipulate and spy on people.
This says Xbox has over 60% of global market share:

You say turned around, I say ruined. He’s just remaking it into another IBM by selling services and killing anything innovative or creative.
