If they ordered them from Amazon does it count as a return?

Getting some Ace Combat vibes

But already cost like $1k. I can’t figure why anyone would want one. It’s like they took the worst things about a tablet and the worst things about a laptop and put them together.
Sounds like a sexist doctor because most of my doctors wouldn’t prescribe anything other than over the counter ibuprofen even when I was in the worst pain in my life. My mother on the other hand would walk out with a sack of pain killers.
Because there are random hands and faces all over the place, random cartoon characters and every frame had no connection with the next frame except the to foreground characters?
This thing is chaos.

If Linux could run AutoCAD and didn’t have issues with anti cheat programs then I probably would have fully committed to the switch.
Before any says anything, yes I know there are CAD alternatives but all of my custom tools only work in AutoCAD and I have no idea how to recreate half of them if I had to and I wouldn’t know how to do it in another app anyway. Plus AutoCAD is the industry standard so for compatibility reasons, I’m locked in.

I would say that it’s as simple as adding a prompt during initial user setup with check boxes. Would you like windows to handle XYZ for you? Instead of assuming all users just want to use their computers to become influencers and forcing frustrating problems onto everyone.
It may have started out with “hey we are doing this for your own good” to now it’s “how can we exploit ignorance and data mine our users and put ads on the desktop?”

The thing that’s driving me away from windows is how pushy it’s gotten. Forced updates, ads, AI, OneDrive, and subscriptions. I just want to be able to turn on MY computer and do what I want or need without having my guard up that I can’t trust my home PC with my privacy.
Windows 11 is ok, but is frustrating to use and I can’t trust it not to screw with settings and there seems to be something annoying added instead of something useful with every update. I also hate the Settings menu, it’s like an unhelpful layer between you and Control Panel the eventually will take you to the same place but took 5 more clicks and searching through drop downs for a link to what you needed.
I guess that’s the problem with having multiple distros and this example might be an edge case. But I would also make the argument that installation instructions can and should be clear cut for the terminal for novice users. For example, the instructions for the terminal commands shouldn’t assume that I know the inside lingo or acronyms. I shouldn’t have to be indoctrinated to use Linux, that’s gatekeeping and seems to be pretty common on websites for the Linux community.
Recently been playing around with Mint. For the most part it’s user friendly. Where it falls apart is it’s not intuitive, it took me hours of googling to try to figure out how to add windows specific drivers (because the manufacturer didn’t create Linux drivers) for a Bluetooth mouse so I could program the mouse buttons. There were community created drivers on GitHub but no direct way to get them, I would have had to download and configure several support files before I could even try to install. I eventually gave up and just bought another mouse.
Most people would have given up in the first 5min and tossed their PC out and kept the mouse.
It’s not that Linux doesn’t work, it’s that it takes work to get it to work.
If Linux worked in the sense of clear step by step instructions and the developers/legacy users didn’t expect everyone to be experts or expect everyone to spend hours trying to figure out world peace just to perform a mundane task, then it would probably replace windows pretty quickly.
OneDrive secretly changing all of my save paths to OneDrive and not adding the cloud symbol to show that it’s beed saving my files to Microsoft servers, even when OneDrive sync is turned off.
I wish I could drop Microsoft completely.

Streaming cloud PC
Now you just need this $500 device that’s about as powerful as a $75 Roku to stream a virtual PC to your home. You will store all of your data on the cloud where you and everyone else can access it, you will own nothing and we will sell your data for profit. All for just $19.99 a month.
Your PC as a service!
As a bonus, when one persons account is hacked then everyone’s data is exposed! By agreeing to use our service you waive all rights to sue or reclaim any data. You get to pay a monthly fee for accessing your private data, what could be better!
Then give up and don’t have kids and ensure that their similarly thinking offspring have a better chance of continuing the cycle.
And let them win?
This is the line of thinking that leads to Idiocracy
Well because mica will get on the robot. Duh

How well do those work? Is it seamless or do I need to spend hours fiddling with it to get a program to work?

If we can convince the ignorant masses to stop buying based on consumerism and purchase based on well informed decisions instead then we would see a shift in enshittification or at least have alternatives. But that’s very unlikely since it’s easier to conform and fall in line and accept your fate.

So I hear there’s a way to use Linux to emulate Windows so you can use Windows apps?
