democratise art?
that’s the most stupid thing I’ve heard.
everyone can do art, grab a pencil and a paper, or clay, or a stick and a knife, or…
Doing art is practically free. you cant have anything more democratised than art.
AI is simply not art, it is inherently unable to do anything creative and only makes cheap soulless slop.
If it’s used as a fancy brush, an artist can do amazing stuff with it, but the creativity and art still comes from the artist, not AI itself.
Who said they need to retrain? A small modification to their weights in each copy is enough. That’s basically training with extra steps.
It is so funny that you are all like “that would never work, because there are no such things as vulnerabilities on any system”
Why would I? the whole point is to create a LLM virus, and if the model is good enough, then it is not that hard to create.
Give it access to the terminal and copying itself is trivial.
And your example doesn’t work, because that is the literal original definition of a meme and if you read the original meaning, they are sort of alive and can evolve by dispersal.
It’s a computer program, give it access to a terminal and it can “cp” itself to anywhere in the filesystem or through a network.
“a program cannot copy itself” have you heard of a fork bomb? Or any computer virus?
They don’t need to outcompete one another. Just outcompete our security.
The issue is once we have a model good enough to do that task, the rest is natural selection and will evolve.
Basically, endless training against us.
The first model might be relatively shite, but it’ll improve quickly. Probably reaching a plateau, and not a Sci fi singularity.
I compared it to cancer because they are practicality the same thing. A cancer cell isn’t intelligent, it just spreads and evolves to avoid being killed, not because it has emotions or desires, but because of natural selection.
An not familiar with that. Can you elaborate?
LLM Viruses will be like how the hippy free love concept died during the aids epidemic.
No more having powerful computerized all connected together.
It’s funny how I simplified it, and you complain by listing those steps.
And they are not as much as you think.
You can run it on a cpu, on a normal pc, it’ll be slow, but it’ll work.
A slow liron could run in the background of a weak laptop and still spread itself.
Even those are vulnerable. You just need one to trick the it guy. Unlike traditional viruses, these could evolve versions that specialize in social engineering.
They are fancy autocomplete, I know.
They just need to be good enough to copy themselves, once they do, it’s natural selection. And it’s out of our control.
more like rich people want more money and don’t care that’s it costs countless lives.
through big chunks of human history, being sober was an exception.
worse than that.
it’s something I can existential labour.
if you rent, and are good and neighbourly, just by existing you create value. but it’s value in property you don’t own, and then you have to pay more rent or get evicted so someone will can afford to live there can enjoy to be part of the community you helped build.
there should be no friendly laws towards land parasites.
It should be illegal to rise rent prices or evict tenants who pay rent and aren’t a nuisance. if the rent is 400$and you live there for 10 years, the rent is still 400$.
if the land lord doesn’t like it, he can sell the house and get a real job.
i think Netflix practically killed sitcoms, as they never give shows any chance to build an audience before they cancel it.
on the other hand, they made Centaur would, so it’s not all that bad
not here to defend any corporation,
but TV was corporate slop before netflix.
Oh no, an asshole is blocking me, the horror.
There’s a difference between white knighting and giving you constructive criticism, like don’t be a cunt.
You know what’s woke? coffee.
Linux nowadays is the toyish easy case, but it comes with a screwdriver to open it and have as much complicated system as you want.
