Because displays of dominance are a very well documented aspect of feline psychology and behavior, considering they are inherently territorial creatures.

Ah, I see your point
I don’t find it as “taking a stab” more “illustrating a relatable experience in a humorous way”.
Literally was about to type almost exactly this as the explanation.
It is a very real thing for a lot of ADHD and other neurodivergent people, myself included (as well as plenty of other people with a variety of conditions that have similar symptoms), where “if you can’t do the thing you wanted to do it isn’t worth it to spend the effort to half-ass it” and just do something else, even though those two experiences don’t have to be compared to each other and have their own independent merits. It is a big psychological hang-up around rationing the limited energy one has that some experience which can be quite disabling; even if you know that you do it but still can’t bring yourself to compromise internally sometimes to just say “fuck it, I’m doing the thing for the sake of doing it, not to accomplish some predetermined goal”.
The “lakes are big and have scary monsters” implied by the panel of the lake and the “I have a primal feeling” lines could just be a joke on its own or a metaphor for what I described. Idk, I’m not the illustrator of this comic. I’m just some rando on the Internet theorizing for shiggles.
They Don’t Want What We Want (And They Don’t Care) — Asking Alexandria.
It is a dominance display. Cats deliberately break your personal space to assert that they are the boss of the house.
Usually, means they want something and are mad you aren’t listening. So, they try to get you to capitulate by “showing who’s boss”. Could also just mean they are feeling cheeky and wanting to remind you “of your place” while they cuddle up to you.
Cats are such lovable assholes.
We love nature and hate what humanity has become. Simple
Never even saw an ad for it but, then again, who watches ads anymore? Good reviews? Can’t trust them, most are bots nowadays.
Just as well, people are so broke they don’t want to risk spending money on something they don’t know when they can watch a remake of a story they know they enjoy or just don’t have money to even go to the movies at all.
Gotta love that capitalist innovation and the “invisible hand if the market” at work.
For many, such as in the US, are struggling so hard that, in the Maslow hierarchy of needs, their long term health isn’t as pressing of an issue compared to others.
Paying to be told why your health is bad and needing to take on the financial burden of continued medical care to rectify anything wrong is not as pressing of a worry as, say, being able to make rent payments or making sure you have food in the fridge to last.
There are also the psychological trauma effects of poverty that twist people’s ability to logic through a situation. Poverty is stressful; the brain begins to prioritize short-term release of this stress to protect itself from mental harm even to the detriment of other needs cause our fleshy meat computer isn’t perfect and prone to errors of logical reasoning.
