Experimenting with Audacity in preparation for the upcoming school semester to find ways to clean up lecture recordings. The OceanGate Implosion sound (original) seemed like a good sound bite to practice on.
Turns out it’s pretty easy, and I now have my new notification tone! (sounded great with headphones; barely audible through the phone speakers. Amplifying it just makes the upper ranges staticky… so… scratch the notification tone idea, it’s shit for that)
This has nothing to do with our boy Luigi, but I have a hunch y’all will enjoy this just the same; and I’m not sure where else to post it.
Saved as a .wav and uploaded to filebin for easy sharing. I can’t upload it directly to Lemmy, and I’m not really sure how else to share it with the internet, but if there’s a better option than filebin let me know and I can throw it there too.
Link expires in 6 days, so if you see this post after that point, just give me shout and I’ll reupload it.
Feel free to pass the file around, reupload it wherever, or edit it further.
kk, I think it’s all set. Created with qbittorrent and ‘Copy > Magnet Link’
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:7449c584726665afb6fb6b12eb01241e910943ee&dn=Trash%20Compacted.wav&xl=1916214
…since I have no idea if I did it right, here’s the ‘general’ tab on the new torrent file:
I left the trackers blank hoping it would fill that in automatically… it doesn’t look like it did, but it does say ‘working’:
…if anything’s gonna break it, it’s probably that.
Also again I’ll have fairly limited computer access this weekend - comp will be off when I’m not around, so if I’m the only seed it’ll be unavailable during those times. Usually I’ll be online fairly consistently on weekday evenings (CST)
And feel free to school me if I just did anything stupid.
Sorry I just saw this and added the magnet link to my BT client. I’ve also never used bittorrent to send files between just two people, so I’m also learning. I think one of us needs to have our bittorrent client port forwarded, so in case you haven’t, I have done so. Pretty sure we don’t need a tracker because DHT should take care of it, but I am not 100% certain
Other torrents seed, so idk.
Idea for an alternative: uploaded the file to Discord. See if this one works:

The torrent worked! Also from what I’ve been told, either the seeder or the leecher needs to be port-forwarded, but it doesn’t matter which one. And if you’re not using a VPN, then most routers can do this automatically with a dynamic port with UPnP/NAT-PMP
ratio reads 1.00! Yay!
